Margaret Cargill was the wife of the famous lumber baron Henry Cargill. They had both settled in a small hamlet in Bruce County which was soon named after them, called Cargill. The Cargill had a great deal to do with the economic viability and settlement of Bruce County. Margaret, it is said, preferred being in the city and shopping, thus Margaret's Mercantile

    Located in the heart of downtown Cargill, we bring a wide range of wares from artists, bakers and farmers for your shopping pleasure.

    Margaret’s Mercantile is a product of the Greenock Swamp/Cargill Promotional Committee to showcase local talent in Cargill, which was once the main hub of Bruce County’s logging industry in the late 1800s.
